Exposing Terms and Conditions

For this project, we were to focus on any social issue we wanted to choose. I chose to focus on digital rights and data protection that we usually don’t get from many social media apps/websites. I felt this was a really important issue to talk about concerning the people of this generation. I wanted to learn more about this topic as well while creating an interesting graphic to convey the information I learned.

Mood Board

To gather some of my research into a small mood board, I found some interesting quotes on the internet pertaining to digital rights and some terms and conditions that some websites have. Many people click ‘i agree’ to the wordy terms and conditions that websites make, but these wordy documents can contain many rights that you may not want them to have access to.

Twitter Terms and Conditions Instagram post

Taking into consideration the layout of Twitter, I wanted to imitate that feel in the first panel to make their terms and conditions intersect with the normal layout many of their application users are used to. With the incorporation of the logo speaking one of the terms and conditions as well, I felt it made for an interesting layout in Instagram format.

Facebook Terms and Conditions Instagram post

From the idea that I had with the website layout incorporated with the terms and conditions, I decided to carry over that idea to my Facebook Instagram post as well. I really enjoyed learning more about the hidden terms and conditions that many websites used, and I hope that many can learn more about the apps/websites they use to protect themselves.
